Day #17: Dogs and Double the Blog (NC)

So I guess me forgetting to write this blog post last night can be blamed on one thing: it's my birthday today! Oh, and a long day of travel. But mostly me being excited about my birthday. So I suppose that since it's a special day in my world, it can handle having two blog posts, right?

Yesterday was long. And pretty uneventful. Woke up, watched Scandal, devoured some trail nix because I forgot to eat dinner the night before, and got all of my shit together. I checked out of the hostel around 11AM, hopped on the Metro, and made my way to Union Station. I waited waited waited for my bus, took a little five hour ride, and BOOM! Carra and Brenna were reunited! In North Carolina! And I mean boom. There were a couple of times where my loser bus driver almost got us in an accident. Yayyyyy MegaBus?

So Carra is one of my very closest friends from boarding school, and now she lives with her husband Alex on an army base in North Carolina. Definitely a different kind of living! So Carra and Alex picked me up from my bus, we stopped by Whole Foods for Brenna food, and then made our way home... Where I was greeted by two crazy, adorable, excited furbabies!!!! And I mean really excited. Brembo and Gunner were jumping, running around, chasing/following me around the house, and peeing. I felt like Elvis or the Beatles or something!

Then we collapsed on the couch and watched an episode of My Strange Addiction which was actually terrifying. One of the women was addicted to cats and had close to twenty of them, despite the fact that she was allergic. Ok, you know, that's not crazy weird. But the other one? Ventriloquism. She was addicted to her puppets, bringing them out with her everywhere she went, spending a lot of time, money, and attention on her eight puppets. See? Terrifying. She did have a sister named Brenna though.

I opened up a package from my mom and my brother before I went to bed, knowing that I didn't want to wait until it was actually my birthday. Let me tell you, I have such a sweet family. Their generosity, their love, and their support mean the world to me. I feel so spoiled.

So off I go to enjoy my 22nd (eeeek!)
