Day #18: 22 (NC)

Another late blog post, I know, but yesterday WAS my birthday! I lounged around all morning, catching up on TV shows, downloading music, and just being lazy. Then I ate some lunch, watched some TV with Alex, and showered.

Carra came home from work around 3pm, we all got ready, and then we headed out for dinner. We went to this pizza place called Mellow Mushroom, where they had Daiya vegan cheese, tofu, and tempeh along with their "normal" pizza toppings! Vegan pizza! Yayyyyy!! So I got a pizza with a garlic and oil base, Daiya cheese, tempeh, spinach, and sundried tomatoes. Yummmm.

Then Carra snuck off and came back a minute later carrying a present and a plate of vegan brownies. So so cute!!!

After dinner we headed back home and got dressed up in our costumes. Carra was an awesome peacock with a homemade top and amazing eye makeup - she looked so good! I was a... leopard crime fighter?! Hahaha that's what I felt like anyway. My "costume" was a leopard print masquerade mask with black feathers, which I paired with a black dress and my distressed boots. The final touch? "Sleeves" of leopard print drawn with eyeliner and eyeshadow hahahaha.

Our destination was Barcelona, a nightclub not too far away. It was specifically a costume night so we immediately had a blast taking in all the crazy costumes. Once the music got better and more people showed up it ended up being a really fun night of dancing and laughing and judging other people, the three things that Carra and I do best when we're together!

Four years ago I ushered in my eighteenth birthday with Carra. I somehow managed to get permission from my boarding school to go home to Carra's house the night before (she was a day student) and we stayed up until midnight laughing and being our usual goofy selves. There were crowns involved and we finally fell asleep in the living room. We woke up all too early for school and her mom had a platter of cupcakes waiting for me. We immediately got high on sugar and drove the 45 minutes to school, blasting Britney Spears and singing at the top of our lungs. We were crazy and young. Four years later, here we are again, and in some ways it's like no time has passed. We're still giddily celebrating our birthdays and Halloween together!

All in all it was a great way to celebrate my birthday. It's weird that I'm 22 now. But the celebrating never stops and Carra's up next!
