I spent what was left of the morning catching up on Dexter and reminding myself that I'm 22 now. Still weird. Then Alex and I headed out to Starbucks and the commissary to get some groceries. Being on an army base is definitely different from anything else I've experienced. Just being in the grocery store and knowing that everyone is either in the army or the family of someone in the army is such a unique thing. It's this community that can bridge all gaps and bring the most unlikely of people together.
After scoring some tofu, Newman O's, snacks, and avocados, we headed home where Alex watched the Pats game and I pretended to know what was going on. Ummm why were they in London?! Still don't get the point of that little experiment.
Later on, while watching a movie, we kept seeing commercials for really cool new toys, like light up Lego blocks, nerf guns, razor bike thingys, and really techy Barbies. Every time we saw one of these commercials Alex and I would groan about how we didn't have anything this cool when we were kids. I realized that there's a bonus for having kids I hadn't thought of: when they go to sleep you can play with their sick ass toys!
Carra got back around 7PM and we ate dinner and watched Hocus Pocus, reading out hilarious Hocus Pocus related tweets during commercial breaks. I just love that movie so much. Always makes me laugh.
Tomorrow we'll be carving pumpkins and making Halloween crafts to decorate the house with! I don't know what I would do without Carra, my kindred Halloween spirit. Thank goodness she loves it like I do! We already have our costumes planned for Wednesday when we greet trick or treaters... But more on that then :)
Hopefully the weather will hold out. This Sandy bitch is looking pretty nasty. So for everyone on the East coast that will be affected, stay safe and have yourself some fun hurricane parties! NYU and Bryn Mawr, enjoy your days off from class!
P.S. scarves as part of the hockey uniform - yay/nay/or best idea ever?!
