On Wednesday Allie and I went to Soul Vegetarian for lunch, which is this southern, all vegan restaurant that "operates under the auspices of the Hebrew Israelite Community of Jerusalem." UMMMM OK? So random and so not our usual type of place but it was good. Allie and I got a bunch of things to share, including corn bread, a lentil burger, a tofu sandwich, and mac and cheese. Their mac and cheese was the bomb and our waitress was super nice. Allie's quote of the meal: "is your phone vibrating? I feel the vibrations. Maybe it's the lords power." This is why I love her. And this is why we shouldn't be allowed out in public.
After lunch we headed over to Young Blood Gallery and perused their adorable artwork and cute gifty things for practically the whole afternoon. They also had a Day of the Dead show with local artists' eclectic decorated mini coffins. We're also both suckers for funny greeting cards so we spent an embarrassingly long time reading all of them.
Then, our day wouldn't be complete if we didn't stop by Ragorama. We're legitimately addicted I think. What's worse is that the same girl has been working there each time we've gone in this week. And she knows us now. Like I said, addicted.
We also went to an über sketchy thrift store in a really weird neighborhood. The stuff was pretty crappy quality though. So we're pretty loyal to Ragorama where we want to buy everything the moment we get there.
Then we headed home and got all dolled up for dinner just for the hell of it. The restaurant we went to is called Across the Street and we had them make us these AMAZING tofu tacos. It was seriously one of the best meals I've had in a while. Tofu, lettuce, avocado, rice, beans. So fucking amazing. Allie's quote of the meal: "let me put on my slutty lip gloss. Maybe we'll get a free meal." Again, how could I not adore her?!
After our late dinner we met Jess for drinks at Sister Louisa's Church of the Living Room & Ping Pong Emporium. Basically it's this kooky bar with sacrilegious shit all over it that's really hilarious. The artwork makes this place a great spot to just hang out because you get to take in all of the stuff on the walls and the ceiling. It was also karaoke night so we went upstairs and joined the masses to watch people make fools out of themselves. You have to wear church robes when you sing and the accompanying music is an organ. Pretty awesome. Too bad everyone sucked and we kept getting attacked by ping pong balls. We just stayed long enough to witness the craziness.
Once we got home we just hung out and relaxed for the rest of the night, playing games and acting crazy per usual. We whipped out Hedbanz again and Allie continued to school our asses. Jess had a lot of trouble trying to guess "Kobe Bryant" which had us in stitches. And Jess, being the awesomely sweet person she is, made us surprise avocado quesadillas which we inhaled.
It's nights like these that just remind me how lucky I am to have such loving/hilarious/generous people in my life. So fun!
