We spent the earlier part of Sunday hanging out, then we decided to go shopping, which for two cash-strapped young ladies means that we ogled everything we saw. We went to J Crew, Banana, Anthro, Lucky, and a slew of other stores. Obviously we lusted after everything we saw in Anthropologie and cried to ourselves when we left empty handed.
After shopping we went home and got ready to go out. One of Abby's friends was working at this live music venue and put us on the list so we could get in for free. It was a tiny little one room venue with a small bar in the back and we didn't really know what to expect, but it ended up being a really fun show. A singer-songwriter girl with a pretty voice was the first opener, and she immediately won my heart when she announced that her next song was about Henry David Thoreau, and she referenced Walden Pond. So funny and random. The next opener was this really cool violinist who did some crazy things even though there were some technical difficulties. Then the main band, Seryn, came on. I had never heard of them before but after a quick Google search I saw that Paste Magazine voted them the best of 2011's SXSW festival. The two opening acts turned out to be members of Seryn, and the band played so many different instruments. Violin, drums, banjo, guitar, harmonica, the list goes on. The entire band sang together and were so full of life and interacted a lot with the audience. It was so fun and I fell in love with the music. Not bad for a random night in Jackson, Mississippi.
Once we got home we curled up on the couch and watched The Cabin in the Woods. It was a fun, low-key day and I'm probably forgetting a bunch of things. But that's what happens when you get behind on blog posts!
Highlights of Monday:
On Monday we hung out outside for a bit and then went to get our nails done. I took the plunge and got acrylic nails put on, which is hilarious in and of itself. But it was really nice having someone do my nails and I got a nice Thanksgivingy color. They actually look really realistic and aren't too weird to have on my nails.
Then we went home and got dolled up for the bar, where we hung out for the rest of the night. Then when we came home we put on my favorite episode of Girls and quoted practically every scene. So fun!
