Woke up and it was in the thirties this morning! Whaaaa?! So we bundled up and took a stroll in Central Park, fighting those Saturday morning joggers for a spot on the path. We walked around the reservoir and grabbed coffee on the way home, where we continued our morning of being 76 years old by playing a game of Scrabble and heating up some chili for lunch. We seem to always toe the line between being seven years old and seventy years old which I find hilariously fitting.
After lunch we met up with Sophia's cousin Julie and grabbed some fro yo (for them) and sorbet (for me). We enjoyed some wonderful people watching, all while Sophia and I oohed and aahed over every dog we saw. We clearly have been doing this all week.
Later on we hopped back on our favorite 1 line and headed towards the village, where we did some major walking around my old stomping grounds. It was definitely good to be back, but at the same time I couldn't help but feel like I was an eighteen/nineteen year old freshman again. Walking from Rubin to the park, the same stretch of Fifth Avenue I walked a million times that year, I realized that I'm in a very different place now. I think sometimes I trick myself into believing that I am just making the same mistakes over and over again, that I'm not really progressing, but I know that that's not true. It just takes small moments like the one I had today to snap me out of that lunacy.
We grabbed dinner at Gobo, a fantastic Asian-fusiony vegan place on 6th Ave, and even though the prices were a bit steep it was so worth it. Sophia got a green tea noodle vegan bolognese and I got a ginger marinated seitan with rice and this unbelievably delectable kale. Ohmygoodness. sogood.
Since we're Sophia and Brenna we made the ridiculous decision to stop back at Peacefood Cafe for dessert on our way home. We grabbed a strawberry shortcake, chocolate cupcake, and chocolate mint cookie sandwich to go and shared them in front of the computer while we proceeded to watch the entire first season of Girls. This is the second time for me but the first for Sophia, and let me tell you, this shit kills me. Especially the crackcident in episode 7. Kills me.
Goodnight all. Passing out now. Tomorrow I'll be relocating downtown with the NYUers for a couple days. That is, if I don't get buried by my duffel bag on the streets of Manhattan first...
